The correction from a Computer Collar ® is not pain based and resembles a diminished version of what you might experience from static. The correction may be uncomfortable and startling to your dog at first, but it will not hurt him. In fact, many dogs only receive the correction once or twice and don't challenge the system afterwards. Before any correction is administered, there is a tone your dog will hear alerting him that he is nearing the boundary. With proper training, this tone is usually enough.
